The duet was created and performed by Bea C. Bidault & Theo Arran.

The Shape of a Day invites the audience on a contemplative journey, where the fine details and subtleties of human behavior are woven into dance. It also delves into abstract movements and rhythms, creating a cohesive narrative that reflects on the nature of existence and identity.

Inspired by the writings of Julio Cortázar, particularly his musings on the inevitability of falling and relapse, the piece explores the cyclical nature of human experiences. The dancers embody these themes, presenting a story that is both intimate and universal.

'Nobody can question that things fall again. A man gets sick and suddenly on a Wednesday relapses. A pencil on the table falls twice in a row. [...] Theoretically, nothing or no one would think of falling again, but the same is bound to, mainly because they fall back without conscience, falling again like never before.' Julio Cortázar

Central to the performance is the portrayal of a close relationship, aiming to evoke a sense of unity and intimacy. The duet poignantly explores themes of care and support within a relationship, examining what happens when these abilities diminish. The audience is positioned as active witnesses, experiencing the unfolding narrative rather than merely observing a staged scenario.

The Shape of a Day is a thought-provoking exploration of the human condition, challenging the audience to consider the deeper implications of our interactions with ourselves, others, and the world around us.
